I bought this table at least a decade ago from a friend who was moving into a new space and needed something different. It’s West Elm with four scoop back bar chairs. We rarely used it unless we had house guests, but it filled this space nicely and worked as a loving home for my plants, not seen here.

My husband recently decided he wanted something different, and this arrived from Poland. Yeah, you read that right. Poland. He bought it on a site that was basically Etsy for antique furniture. It’s Danish modern. Teak. Originally offered in the 1960s, it was fully refurbished by someone in rural Poland and resold. Beautiful, eh?

It’s very comfortable and also fits the space well. The West Elm version went on eBay and Facebook marketplace, where I fiddled with the price until it sold to two young women who were setting up their first apartment. They came in a few hours to pick it up. I had taken the table apart and wrapped it in bubble wrap. They put everything – the table, legs, and all four chairs in a Honda Fit Jenga-style. They were delighted.
I’ve been cleaning out recently trying to rehome some of the amazing things I’ve acquired in this life, and the table was a nice lesson that the right places are out there. That we should acquire with care, keep our items in good condition, and release them back into the world for another to love.
