This project was for the entry way of a new corporate office. Since the approvals were extensive, I started working on the draft with blueprints, but I didn’t finalize anything until I saw the actual finished space.
Paint curing
Once the wall is installed and painted, you’ll need to build in some time before vinyl is applied. Paint takes time to dry, so give it 4 weeks to dry and breathe before you have a vendor install vinyl stickers. In addition, a new building may settle and form cracks, so taking your time may be worth the wait.
Design considerations
I designed this one to be at roughly eye level based on the blueprints. The items were then placed both above and below the actual line.
The maximum size for a pasteboard in InDesign is 18 feet or 216 inches. Therefore, this job had to be multiple documents. This is how it looked laid out.

I used a vendor with experience with this kind of installation.
I took a literal approach, so I divided the space into equal space for each year. Some items were full color, others were black and white, and others were just screened to give the piece more variety. They were also used at a variety of sizes. Certain elements were printed on different depths of foam core to give the piece depth. Those items were put on a separate layer within the document. You can see them outlined in pink with the corresponding layer labeled.

Fonts corresponded to the brand guidelines of the corporation and were 100 points for the year and 48 points for the text.
Overall this was well received and is being added to in the next year. Using the space both above and below the actual timeline gave us room to add to the design as the company grew.
